Frougas and reigning New Zealand Toyota GR86 champion White battled treacherous conditions to hold off the hard-charging Audi of Stewart and Blake Purdie by 1.2s.

Solo driver Jensen Shearer took another podium, beating the Method Motorsport McLaren of Tom Hayman/Jett Murray at the line by just 0.2s.

Aaron Cameron/Lochie Dalton recovered from a difficult qualifying to round out the top five, having started in 15th place.

As the race started under the setting sun, Purdie got away to the best start of the lead group while Frougas, Hayman, and Jarrod Hughes battled three-wide for second place.

In the commotion, Caleb Paterson rocketed from fifth place to second by Turn 3.

As the green flag run at the beginning of the race continued, Paterson began to drop back into the clutches of the top five.

Ford Mustangs appeared to struggle in the early running, George Miedecke had battled through from a 12th place start to well inside the top 10, but struggled as the laps ticked by.

Light rain began to fall as the track lights took effect, causing havoc for several contenders.

Sam Paley and Miedecke made contact while heading down the main straight, resulting in Paley sent sideways across the pit exit apron.

A lap later, Hayman’s McLaren kicked majorly sideways heading into Turn 1, pitching the reigning champion into the gravel.

Paley and Hayman both recovered to continue unscathed.

The first safety car was drawn when Cy Pearson found his way into the Turn 6 gravel, with the yellow flag waved immediately prior to the pit window opening.

The entire field made its way into pit lane under yellow flag conditions, with Stewart expected to emerge with the lead due to no additional pit stop time.

White jumped Stewart in the pit stop, taking the lead while Scott Green came out in second place having taken over from Caleb Paterson.

When the green flag waved for the restart, Jake Camilleri and Summer Rintoule simultaneously found their way into the gravel at Turn 1, plummeting down the order.

As the rain continued to fall in the pit stop cycle, several cars struggled for grip on the laps following the restart.

Blake Tracey spun the Miedecke Motorsport Mustang, dropping outside the top 10.

Contact from the #88 Toyota Supra of Andrew Torti sent Nathan Murray’s BMW spinning at the final corner, drawing the second safety car.

White held the lead on the subsequent restart before a multi-car incident at the final corner brought out the yellow flag again just three laps later.

Jack Wallis made contact with Jack Johnson, spinning the #114 McLaren, leaving Green, Camilleri, Ryan Sorensen, and Jarrod Keyte with nowhere to go.

All cars emerged relatively unscathed, with the restart setting up a five lap sprint to the finish.

Several cars were then involved in a spin at Turn 4 in the closing laps, including Sorensen, Rintoule, Pearson, and Gerry Murphy.

Murphy’s #58 Mercedes-AMG was left stuck at Turn 4 for the remaining laps, with the corner covered by a local yellow flag.

Jay Murray battled through to sixth place from 16th on the grid in the #7 BMW.

Paley/Wallis (#62 Mustang), Tracey/Miedecke (#35 Mustang), Cameron McLeod/Mason Harvey (#227 Mustang), and Blake Dowdall/Cooper Cutts (#95 Mustang) rounded out the top 10.

Nathan Callaghan/Chris Lillis took the Am Cup honours in 11th place outright after early mechanical issues struck Glenn Walker.

Torti and Lachlan Evennett took the Silver-Am Cup victory in 12th place overall.

Monochrome GT4 Australia returns at 1:15pm AEST on Sunday for its final one-hour race of the weekend.
